Sofia Pipa ’21, Visual Arts major, completed her senior year from her hometown of Athens, Greece, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the distance, Pipa was able to show her work alongside 20 other seniors in an exhibition at the Bristol Art Museum. This fall, she will attend New York University to pursue a Master's degree in Arts Administration. 

Internships in Three Countries: “In the past few years, I've done three different arts management internships in Greece, London, and in New York, to collect different experiences.  I know that arts management is the work I like, and I'm so excited. I have the base of the fundamentals of my education and professional personality, so I'm ready to move on to NYU.”

Showing Her Culture: “I’m so happy to do my exhibition remotely from Greece. I can show my culture and my country. Because I am remote, I wanted to show my paintings in a video form. I went down to the Acropolis and the Parthenon and took a video of my art from there.”

A Welcoming Environment: “I felt a lot of support from Roger’s community. I had a very good advisor who used to have art galleries in Greece, so he knew the culture. Coming from Greece to Rhode Island as an 18-year-old was difficult. I’d never visited before, but I felt so welcome. Roger’s environment in general was very welcoming.”

“Unintentional Feedback,” a showcase of �����ƽ�� student art, was on display this spring in the main gallery space of Bristol Art Museum as part of an ongoing community partnership between the two organizations. Ranging from painting and drawing to digital media and photography, the collection boasted more than 40 pieces of unique artwork.
